Mud Volcano is a rare natural phenomenon found on Baratang Island. Unlike traditional volcanoes that erupt with lava and fire, this volcano releases mud and natural gases from the ground. It creates small bubbling craters where grey mud slowly comes out of the earth.
The Mud Volcano is located a short drive from the Baratang jetty, followed by a brief walk through a forest path. Although the structure is small, it is considered an interesting geological attraction because such mud volcanoes are not commonly found in many parts of the world. Visitors often stop here during their Baratang sightseeing tour to observe this unusual natural formation and take photographs of the unique landscape.
